Tenured Professor of Psychiatry

Jeffrey R. Strawn, MD, is the Dr. Henry and Amelia Nasrallah Endowed Professor in Psychiatric Neuroscience and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati. He serves as Associate Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience and Co-Director of the NIH-funded Center for Clinical & Translational Science & Training. Dr. Strawn is an internationally recognized psychiatrist and psychopharmacologist whose research focuses on precision psychopharmacology for anxiety and related disorders. Continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2010, his work integrates clinical pharmacology, pharmacogenetics, neurobiology, and translational neuroscience to improve treatment selection and optimize outcomes for children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. His research has informed clinical practice guidelines, advanced personalized approaches to psychopharmacology, and contributed to the development of FDA-approved treatments for anxiety disorders.

He has authored nearly 300 peer-reviewed publications, cited more than 10,000 times, and co-authored six textbooks. In addition to his research, Dr. Strawn maintains an active clinical practice and is an award-winning educator and mentor. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and an elected Member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
